The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), the Philippine government agency tasked to lead and monitor disability related activities and policies, recently uploaded two 30-second video informercials in YouTube. They were both professionally done. I believe they can have a great impact on the disability awareness and promoting the rights of Persons With Disabilities. I just wish they can afford to buy a spot on national TV to show them.
Since its our school through our Deaf Coordinator Sir Ervin Reyes who designed their website using WordPress, I was one of those people who are privileged of viewing them for the first time and putting an annotation (closed caption) in one of the videos when it was uploaded in YouTube. The voiceovers and background music are good, clear and appropriate. But one of the video requires a closed caption so I took the liberty of adding it. I am particularly fond of the part where the deaf welder signs. 🙂
Here they are guys! Enjoy! 🙂

The Philippines is currently celebrating its 31st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week. The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) is the lead government agency tasked to oversee the celebration nationwide.
This year’s theme is “Tungo sa Katuparan ng Karapatan ng PWDs“. MCCID will take part in this activity by joining in the JOBS FAIR for PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES to be held on July 23 at the SM City North EDSA Annex. We will again be demonstrating the computer skills of our deaf students.
This year’s jobs fair is unique in a way. Instead of companies opening their booths for prospective applicants, it’s the employers who will be doing rounds to view the crafts and skills of the PWDs. They may then gauge their employability potentials.
Other activities lined up can be read at the NCDA Official Website. Para sa ating mga kababayan na may kapansanan, mabuhay po kayo!!!
To all persons with disabilities in my country, this good news is for you. SM Foundation will again launch their Job Skills and and Livelihood Fair this November 20 from 10:00 am onwards. It will be held at the Activity Center of SM City North EDSA.
This activity is SM Foundation’s early Christmas gift to our countrymen who are still hunting for jobs. Available careers that are up for grabs are IT related, factory work and call center operations. Applicants must bring their resume and necessary credentials.
Aside from companies’ booths offering job opportunities, skills demonstration of various persons with disabilities who have excelled in their fields will be held simultaneously. MCCID students will be included in the presentation. They will present their skills in web designing, flash animation and graphic designing.
